News & Announcements INDOT Wins National Award for the Indiana Rural Transit Assistance Program (Indiana RTAP)!  The National Rural Transit Assistance Program (National RTAP) recently announced its 2009 RTAP State Achievement Awards at the Community Transportation Association of America's (CTAA) Expo in Providence, Rhode Island. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) received the 2009 Outstanding State RTAP Program award. Indiana RTAP is administered by INDOT and operated by RLS & Associates, Inc. via RLS' Columbus, Indiana office. Indiana RTAP provides a comprehensive program of assistance through training and scholarships, technical assistance, and compliance oversight. It has been instrumental to the Indiana Department of Transportation and the small urban, rural, and specialized transportation systems throughout Indiana for ensuring that driver training, technical assistance, and compliance oversight is provided in an efficient and effective manner. The RTAP Program's regional training concept has allowed program staff to concentrate their resources while increasing training participation among Indiana's transit systems. Among the many training classes and areas of technical assistance offererd, Indiana RTAP's Master Driver and Grand Master Driver Programs were designed specifically by the RTAP staff to increase participation in driver's training and recognize the training achievements of transit drivers across the state.
