This is a four-hour course. This course builds on the National RTAP START program and teaches transit drivers the importance of performing inspections to help ensure that their vehicles are road-worthy, understand how to safely operate their vehicle in a variety of conditions, and know how to safely load and unload both ambulatory and non-ambulatory passengers. The transit driver must also know what to do in an on-board emergency situation. The course is divided into three sections: Vehicle Safety, Driver Safety, and Passenger Safety. Together these three elements provide the foundation for what operators need to know as a transit driver.
Lunch is not provided as this is a half-day course.
